Funeral of Capt. Parsons Special to the Evening Herald. Vermillion, Feb. 20. - The funeral of Capt. Burt Parsons held here today was one of the largest ever held in the place. Mr. Parsons was a very popular citizen and his death casts a gloom over the entire town. The funeral was held at 12:30 in the Methodist church, the Rev. J. F. Lewis conducting the service. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, the casket being almost hidden by these touching tributes of many friends. The pall bearers were Capt. F. A. Bailey, G. B. McConley, Geo. Risden and George T. Wahl. Capt. Parsons was 41 years of age and leaves a wife and six children. He died of pneumonia being ill only a few days. Every flag in Vermilion is at half mast this afternoon.

An Old Resident Dies Mr. Nelson Parsons, aged eighty-seven, a lifelong and respected resident of Vermilion, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. U. Stone of Liberty St. Mr. Parsons has been failing for some time, but was confined to his bed for but eight days. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home of L. U. Stone. Obituary Nelson Parsons, son of Levi and Charlotte Parsons, was born in Vermilion Township, August 29, 1826. Died July 8, 1913, aged 86 years, 11 months. He was united in marriage to Sarah Ann Fowler 64 years ago. To them were born six children, one daughter and five sons. Two sons died in infancy. George, Bert and Charles having reached the manhood and middle life when they departed this life. The mother and wife died October 28, 1903 nearly 10 years ago. The funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. Stone, Thursday at 1 o'clock P.M. Services conducted by Rev. A. G. Rupert
