Media object | Albert Nickel displaying his medals. I haven\'t been able to learn about the first medal. I believe the second is his memory cross from the Battle of Koeniggraetz. He had a total of 6 medals |
Media object | Signature from his wife Maria Kuehn\'s death certificate |
Media object | This medal was given to all who were serving in the military during the Centenary year commemorating Kaiser Wilhelm I. |
Media object | The Memory Cross was awarded to Albert for his participation in the Battle of Koeniggraetz. This is not his medal, but a likeness from the Internet. This has the same name as his medal, but appears to have a slightly different shape. |

Note | !1. He is listed on Albert Nickel's marriage record with the "s" on his name
and is also listed as a contract gardner. The marriage record indicates that
Albert is the third son.
!2. He is listed as a free-lance gardner on Ottilie's marriage record, but his
name does not have the "s" on the end
!3. Max Nickel is the grandson of an Anton Nickel. I believe this could be the
oldest child of Anton, and therefore an older brother to Albert.
!4. I know nothing about where Robert fits into the family. He could also be
older than Albert. Ottilie's son or grandson told Grandma about him.
Therefore, I assumed he is most likely a younger child. |
